Emergency Housing Navigation
We understand that whānau who are in urgent need of a safe place to stay will often need additional holistic wrap around support. Our dedicated kaiarahi help whānau understand and access the emergency housing system, advocate with the Ministry of Social Development on their behalf and develop personalised housing pathways that reflect their circumstances and aspirations.
Through wrap-around support, we not only assist with immediate accommodation needs but also address barriers to long-term housing stability, ensuring whānau are empowered, heard and supported on their journey towards secure and sustainable homes. We walk alongside whānau in their time of need, and throughout their entire housing journey.
How our navigators support whānau
Receive and action referrals
We receive referrals from the Ministry of Social Development or from whānau and initiate the enrolment process.
Enrol whānau
We gather key information (contact details, Social Housing Register priority number, support networks) and complete required forms.
Develop tailored
housing pathways
We develop tailored pathways that reflect each whānau goals and circumstances (e.g private rental, transitional housing, Kāinga Ora or other Social Housing options).
Provide wrap-around support
We work to address practical, systemic, and personal barriers to housing stability.
Advocate with MSD
We work on behalf of whānau to ensure their voice is heard and they are supported through complex processes.
Respond to urgent situations
In urgent situations and if needed, we pause normal enrolment processes to prioritise whānau who are in crises and need same-day housing solutions.
