Social Work in Schools
The Social Work in Schools programme is designed to support tamariki and whānau and schools toe enhance student wellbeing, engagement, and educational achievement. It provides early, accessible and holistic social work support within the school environment.
The outcomes we are aiming to achieve include:
-
Improved attendance, participation and achievement at school
-
Stronger relationships between whānau, schools and community services
-
Safer more supportive school environments
-
Reduced risk of long-term social issues through early intervention.
How it works
Schools-based presence: Our social workers will attend schools, making their services easily accessible to children and families.
Early intervention: Our focus is on identifying issues early and addressing them before they escalate.
Whānau-centred: Social workers engage with whānau to strengthen relationships, address challenges and connect them to wider services.
Collaboration: We partner with teachers, principals, health services and community organisations to provide wrap-around support.
